Heart Disease

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in North American women, therefore, it is likely the leading cause of death in lesbian and bisexual women as well. Smoking and obesity are both risk factors for heart disease, so it is possible that lesbians have a higher risk than heterosexual women due to their increased use of cigarettes and their higher BMIs[14] [5] [11].
